Ignition Regulated Electronic Spark Advance

Technology Automotive - Ignition Regulated Electronic Spark Advance - The ignition was adjusted by platinum electric spark advance now has changed that is with the coil that has been installed in each cylinder as what the system hopefully the article below useful. E.S.A (Electronic Spark Advance) system is a system that uses machine ECU to determine ignition timing based on signals from various sensors. The engine ECU calculates the ignition timing of the optimum time in memory according to the condition of the automotive engine and sends signals to the igniter. Optimal ignition time is basically determined using engine rotation and air intake mass (manifold pressure).

Construction

ESA system consists of various sensors, ECU machine, igniter, ignition coil and spark plug.

The Role of The Sensor

  • Camshaft position sensor (G signal): It detects standard crank angles and camshaft timings.
  • Crankshaft position sensor (NE signal): It detects crank angle and engine rotation.
  • Air flow meter or manifold pressure sensor (VG or PIM signal): It detects air intake mass or manifold pressure.
  • Throttle position sensor (IDL signal): It detects engine idling condition.
  • Water Temperature sensor (THW signal): It detects coolant temperature.
  • Knock sensor (KNK signal): It detects the tap condition.
  • Oxygen sensor (OX signal): It detects the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas.

Role of automotive engine ECU

The engine ECU receives the signal from the sensor, calculates the optimum ignition time for machine condition, and sends the signal (I.G.T) to the igniter.
